Renewal Course – Private Security Officer Level IV (Classroom)

Description

We offer two classroom options to satisfy your state renewal training certification requirements. You may choose either course depending on your interests and career path:

• Level III Security Officer Renewal
  • Best for: Commissioned (armed) officers who want to review core security officer concepts.
• Level IV Personal Protection Officer (PPO) Renewal
  • Best for: Renewing PPOs, officers interested in personal protection concepts, or current officers looking to upgrade their credentials to Level IV.

Our updated course items allows you to purchase and select your range instructor on this site, separately.  Follow the instructions to enroll in the classroom and then select your range instructor and location. Harkins Security now provides access to the required MMPI Assessment in accordance with HB 3424 Effective September 1, 2023 for Level III Renewals.  Students purchasing this course should also add the MMPI Assessment for Private Security to your cart before checkout. This MMPI is facilitated by Bruce Parsons, Clinical Psychologist and will perform the assessment and provide documentation required for the application process submission to Texas Department of Public Safety in accordance with his findings. This course is a 6-hour (minimum) course for qualified individuals seeking to renew their Texas security license.

Sec. 1702.308. CONTINUING EDUCATION.

(a) This section does not apply to a noncommissioned security officer.

(b) The department shall recognize, prepare, or administer continuing education programs for company license holders, commissioned security officers, and individual license holders. The commission shall set the minimum number of hours that must be completed and the types of programs that may be offered.

(c) A company license holder, commissioned security officer, or individual license holder must participate in the programs to the extent required by the commission to keep the person’s license or commission. A company license holder, commissioned security officer, or individual license holder shall submit evidence of compliance with the commission’s continuing education requirements in a manner prescribed by the department.

Sec. 1702.309. SECURITY OFFICER COMMISSION RENEWAL.

(a) The commission by rule shall develop a continuing education course required for renewal of a security officer commission. Only a department-approved instructor may administer the continuing education course. The course must include at least six hours of instruction determined by the department.

(b) A commissioned security officer must demonstrate the proficiency required under Section 1702.1685 within the 90-day period before the date the commission is renewed.
